Extended producer responsibility
We pay attention to the impact of a car on the environment during its entire life cycle.
For all our products and mobility solutions we aspire to minimize environmental impacts along the entire lifecycle – from raw material extraction until end-of-life - in order to keep ecosystems intact and to create positive impacts on society. Compliance with environmental regulations, standards and voluntary commitments is a basic prerequisite of our actions.
Climate Change
We are committed to the Paris Climate Agreement. We intend to become a carbon neutral company by 2050. By 2025, we plan to reduce our total life cycle Greenhouse Gas Emissions of passenger cars and light duty vehicles by 30% compared to 2015. We actively contribute to the transition towards renewable energies along the entire life cycle.
Resources
We intend to maximize resource efficiency and promote circular economy approaches in the areas of materials, energy, water and land use. By 2025, we plan to have reduced the production-related environmental externalities (CO2, energy, water, waste, volatile organic compounds) by 52,5% per vehicle compared to 2010.
Air Quality
We are driving e-mobility forward to improve the local air quality. By 2025, the share of battery electric vehicles in our model portfolio will be between 20 and 25%. The share of electric vehicles in the Group fleet is to rise to at least 40% by 2030.
Environmental Compliance
We aim to become a role model for a modern, transparent and successful enterprise in terms of integrity by installing and controlling effective management systems covering the environmental impacts of our mobility solutions over all life cycle stages.
Environmental protection is one of the basic pillars of the carmaker's sustainability. Since 2012, the environmental pillar has been covered by the internal GreenFuture program. The program ensures the management and effective control of all activities related to environmental protection, on the basis of which individual measures at the level of production, product and processes are determined. We also hold several important certificates that prove our commitment to environmental protection.
GreenFactory
We want to maximize the efficient use of resources and promote the approaches of the circular economy in the use of materials, energy, water or land. By 2025, we plan to reduce the externalities associated with production (CO2, energy, water, waste, volatile organic compounds) by 52.5% per vehicle compared to 2010.
GreenProduct
The main principle of Škoda Auto's environmental strategy is the responsible and sustainable production of energy-efficient cars. NEXT LEVEL's new corporate production and product development strategy focuses on increasing the share of electric car sales in Europe by 2030 to 50% to 70%, depending on market developments. By 2030, Škoda auto plans to expand its portfolio of min. about 3 new purely electric models. Škoda Auto's intention is to develop cars with maximum emphasis on ecology. The principle here is that each new generation of Škoda cars has lower fuel consumption, less CO2 emissions, lower weight and better aerodynamics compared to previous models.
GreenRetail
Škoda brand dealers are involved in activities within GreenRetail, thanks to which they implement procedures and processes in their premises with regard to environmental friendliness and efficient management of resources and materials. The focus is mainly on maximizing the use of waste, reducing energy consumption or using rainwater. At the same time, we are constantly looking for opportunities leading to an overall improvement of the environment, either directly in the establishment or in its immediate vicinity.
